Tips on how to make the most out of your wood flooring
If you have a wood floor, you have to make sure that you keep it looking nice for as long as possible. There are a few things that you can do to make sure that your floor will last and stand the test of time. Let’s take a look at what you need to do in order to make sure that you get the most out of your wood flooring.
No Shoes!
Start by taking your shoes off and asking other people to do the same. You wouldn’t believe how much dirt is traipsed into your house from shoes, which can scratch your floor, as well as leaving it all mucky. Not just that, shoes, and high heeled shoes in particular, can really destroy the finish of your floor as well.
Vacuum and Dust Mop First
Never start by getting your bucket and mop out. Instead, sweep your floor properly, vacuum it or use a dust mop in order to get rid of all the little particles. Only then should you mop it, with a product designed specifically for wooden flooring, never use water. If you mop first, you will scratch the surface of your floor by pushing in the particles.
Every once in a while, you will need to do a little bit of deep cleaning to really get rid of all the dirt.
We sell intense cleaners that will refresh your floor and bring it back to as good as the day it was fitted.
There are creative ways of cleaning as well. Try putting a tea bag in two cups of boiling water. Leave it in there until the water has cooled down to room temperature. Take out the tea bag and soak a cloth in the “tea” you have just created and wipe this on the floor. Go over it with a soft cloth to dry it and you will notice you have the most beautiful, shiny floor every. This is because of the tannic acid found in tea.
Get Rid of Scratches
If you have very deep ingrained scratches caused by dragging of furniture, then we can always re-sand and seal your floor to bring it back to its former glory.
